The actress, who revealed her diagnosis with breast cancer in April, has returned to her Broadway show after a month’s hiatus, when she underwent a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. She told the New York Times that the experience has brought her and Tom together, saying: “Who knew it would make you even closer?” The Oscar-winning star of films such as Forrest Gump, Captain Phillips and Saving Mr Banks and Rita have been married for 27 years.
