LOS ANGELES >> An Ontario-based company’s bid to take over a chain of six failing California hospitals drew the ire of opponents and the backing of supporters Tuesday at a hearing that attracted hundreds. Opponents argued that Dr. Prem Reddy’s Prime Healthcare Services would be the wrong owner for six hospitals owned by the Roman Catholic nonprofit Daughters of Charity Health System, despite it being the winning bidder in October to buy the beleaguered chain.
