Most children do not get enough sleep to adequately function during the day, according to a recent study, but efforts to correct the problem by modifying the average school day could meet with resistance. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends children at the elementary through high school levels start no sooner than 8:30 a.m. The American Academy of Pediatrics published the same opinion last year.
