Drug makers are scrambling to figure out a way to manage Alzheimer’s, the only leading cause of death that can’t be prevented, cured or slowed. Unless a credible Alzheimer’s treatment is developed, the memory-destroying disease could cost the U.S. health care system $1 trillion a year by 2050, according to the Alzheimer’s Association.
