Covered California opens enrollment for uninsured who face tax penalties

With up to 600,000 Californians facing a tax penalty for going without health insurance last year, state officials Friday announced a special enrollment period to help them avoid paying more money to the IRS. Covered California , the state’s health plan exchange, will open a special enrollment period for those who didn’t know about the tax penalties.
