As Doctors Medical Center braces for a likely closure later this month, other medical providers are scrambling to deal with the 80-odd patients who walk into the San Pablo-based community hospital’s emergency room each day, mostly with issues that could be handled in primary or urgent care settings. Contra Costa County Health Services officials say they have a handle on the situation, having worked on the potential problem even before the hospital stopped accepting emergency ambulances in August as its financial condition worsened.
