UNC Charlotte biology professor Pinku Mukherjee was honored by the UNC Board of Governors last spring for her groundbreaking breast cancer research. She is only the second UNCC faculty member to receive the O. Max Gardner Award, the highest faculty honor given by the board of governors of the 17-campus system.
